San Pablo's two museums are administered by the San Pablo Historical and Museum Society. Visit the Historical Society to learn about the museums and the city's history. The museums are located in the Civic Center complex, Alvarado Square, 13831 San Pablo Avenue (corner of San Pablo Avenue and Church Lane).

The Blume House is open on the second Sunday of the month from Noon to 4pm and the Alvarado Adobe Museum is open on the first Sunday of each month from Noon to 4pm.

The San Pablo Historical Society meets on the third Friday of the month at 12:00 noon for business meetings in Maple Hall Community Center. Call 510.215.3092 for more information.

The Alvarado Adobe is a reconstruction of the adobe home which originally stood on this site. It was occupied by California Governor Juan Bautiste Alvarado from 1848 to his death in 1882. The museum includes rooms furnished as they were while Governor Alvarado lived in the home, and rotating exhibits about life in San Pablo.

The Blume House is a 1905 farm house which was relocated from the location of Hilltop Mall. Most of the house is decorated as many farm houses in this area might have been. Rotating historic exhibits are also featured.
